Instru Optiikka implemented a service business development project that required strong financial management and process development skills. Help was found from NIS consultant Maija Rinta-Laulaja.

Instru Optiikka implemented a service business development project with the aim of streamlining and automating operational and financial management processes. The project required input from several different functions of the company and support from an expert with extensive knowledge of financial management, system development and project management.
Amongst NIS’s experts the right person for the project and the customer was found in Maija Rinta-Laulaja. In addition to expertise in financial management, Maija understands IT systems and has solid experience in project management.
Cooperation bore fruit
As the aim was to develop the company's entire service business, expertise was needed from several Instru Optiikka teams. At the start of the project, Maija's role was to act as a process development lead in financial management. As the project progressed, she also took on responsibility for the coordination and communication of the entire project.
From the very beginning, the expert Instru Optiikka team and the experienced NIS project manager found a common note. "It was great to see the team's willingness to change and improve. There was good spirit from the start, and we were able to get things done quickly. It was such a pleasure to work with the team!" Maija Rinta-Laulaja says.
The emphasis throughout the project was on working together. In addition to leading the project, Maija brought her own expertise to the client's full use and was also involved in the practical work. "A well welded team was the key to success", Maija emphasizes. The project team members felt that problems were solved together rather than each person focusing on their own role. The team members also felt that cooperation with NIS was seamless and most excellent.
Learnings for future development
The project result was not only a workable solution for service business needs, but also more efficient financial management processes. "We have been very pleased to find in Maija a versatile lead talent for our team. She naturally took responsibility and performed her work thoroughly. This collaboration was a great success!" thanks Nina Norberg, the company's CFO.
The journey together provided valuable lessons and a good basis for further development of the service business. "I believe that the client also gained new ideas for project management that they can use in future development projects", says Maija.
